Introduction
As I’ve mentioned before, this series — Alchemy of Poetic Words / Alquimia de Palabras Poéticas — is a project I have planned in 2013. Back then, I dreamed of turning them into a book, each paired with original illustrations by Salvador Jaramillo, a gifted designer and colleague from Mexico.
Here we are with another poem
If you feel curiosity to read the Poem #17 you can read it here: https://inleo.io/@aljif7/poem-17-actually-a-section-of-creative-mini-expressions-original-momn6niy75d6c1b4?referral=aljif7
Salvador design’s are ended after 7 Poems.
Then, I am doing the experiment this time with the help of AI to generate an image for this poem number 18 (at the end, in poem 17, I didn’t use AI, some screenshots were enough). This is the second Trumk-bulary section (Trompa-bulario) playing with words in popular expressions and ... Here we are with poem #18 (actually 4 mini-expressions).
The challenge for this section (Trompa-bulario) which consists of mini-sentences and fleeting phrases I captured in the moment; were to decided how many to post each time. And by the way, in my last therapy session, talking with my psychologist I get ideas about to develop this kind of mini-expressions in an extended format. Well, the idea is there and maybe a seed for another project.
Rather than over explain, here are other four out of ten mini-expressions from the series:
Spanish Version
Trompa-bulario (Continuación:4, 5, 6 and 7 of 10 mini-expresiones de la sección Trompa-bulario)
- Palabras alegres y jugosas:
“Carcajada,
rebanada de sandía.”

(Screenshot by author)
- Palabras frescas:
Estas son las mañanitas
que cantaba el rey David …

(Screenshot by author)
(Al inicio de “Las Mañanitas,” canción tradicional mexicana de cumpeaños)
- Palabras enamoradas:
Verde que te quiero verde …

(Screenshot by author)
(De Federico García Lorca: Romance Sonámbulo, fragmento)
7.Palabras clave:
‘Oprima su número confidencial …’

**English Version
**
Trunk-bulary (4, 5, 6 and 7 out of 10 mini-expressions of Trumk-bulary)
- Joyful and juicy words:
Laughter,
slice of watermelon.

(Screenshot by author)
- Fresh morning words:
“These are the little morning songs
that King David used to sing”

(Screenshot by author)
(from “Las Mañanitas,” traditional Mexican birthday song)
- Words in love:
“Green, how I love you green…”

Screenshot by author
(from Federico García Lorca’s “Romance sonámbulo”)
- Key words / Code words:
“Please enter your confidential number…”

(Screenshot by author)
(4, 5, 6, and 7 mini-expressions out of 10 from Trunk-bulary section)
**The Experiment
**
The AI applied till Poem 16, I didn’t feel I needed it for Poem 17. About this one; Poem 18, or more exactly –the mini-expressions grouped in Poem 17 and 18, I am still exploring if AI is needed… but as it is about popular expressions, there are always something over google, thanks to google for the help.
Then explore for the best flavoured images matching these mini-expressions and I screenshot it.
The challenge in this post was how to organise my 10 mini-expressions grouped in a section I called Trompa-bulario. It recalls the moments when I did the compilation of them from different notebooks .
Now, out of Mexico it sound as a fresh way to be there, and remember the boring recording voice of the costumer service answering by companies. It would change for sure with the use of AI.
I am still thinking about the experiment of selling a version with no images. I am getting the idea to sell my +50 poems in Spanish without illustrations. I have advanced in a review with AI and it gives me a good organisation of the content. That helped me to decide how to group the mini-expressions for this post.
Blessing reading for everyone — and for holding space for these small, searching into a dream!
Notes on the translation for Trunk-bulary:
“Trompa-bulario” → “Trunk-bulary”: Preserves the wordplay (trompa = trunk + vocabulario = vocabulary)
For mini-expressions 1, 2 and 3 (Poem number 17 and mini-expressions 4, 5, 6 and 7 on poem number 18):
“Palabras dulces”: “Sweet words” captures both the literal sweetness and the emotional warmth of the moment.
“Palabras patriotas”: “Patriotic words” maintains the national pride theme. It evoques a song and a poem.
“Verde, blanco y colorado”: Translated as “Green, white, and red” (the colors of the Mexican flag; colorado literally means “colored/red”). It recalls a poem.
“Palabras solitarias”: “Solitary words” works better than “lonely words” in my opinion.
For mini-expressions 4, 5, 6 and 7 (this poem number 18)
“Palabras alegres y jugosas” → “Joyful and juicy words” — preserves the alliteration and sensory quality.
“Palabras frescas” → “Fresh morning words” — plays on both meanings: refreshing + morning (mañanitas).
“Las mañanitas que cantaba el rey David” — This is the opening line of the traditional Mexican birthday song. I kept it literal but added context.
“Verde que te quiero verde” — Famous García Lorca line. Literally “Green that I want you green,” but “Green, how I love you green” flows better in English while keeping the repetition.
“Palabras clave” → “Key words / Code words” — a pun in Spanish (clave = key + code/password). The automated phone message adds a modern, bureaucratic contrast to the poetic lines above.
