Good bye dCity
I started my investment journey with Dcity back in 2024. At the beginning, I tried to understand how to profit from trading within the game. I'll be honest—I'm not really a gamer. I was purely investing in the gaming sector, hoping it would deliver good surprises.
Now that I'm on vacation, I decided to check my staking and ended up selling the SIM tokens I had been holding. If the game is dead, there's no reason to keep staking. I got 1.36 HIVE. 😞
Unfortunately, I didn't realize the project was closing; otherwise, maybe I could have salvaged more HIVE. It shut down on June 26, 2026. Well, sometimes long-term ideas don't work out as planned.
Checking my notes, I had invested around $30 USD (not counting some small losses I didn't bother to track). At least not the 100 USD I was thinking!
After the Bitcoin halving in 2020, I thought the next areas to benefit from the 2024 halving would be WEB3, social networks, and gaming. Well, for now, it looks like I was wrong. HIVE is still on a downward trend, and projects are dying. A few months ago, I lost access to Colony, another game where I had about $10 invested. At least SPS still looks promising.
Lessons learned:
- Not every long-term hold works out
- Always monitor your investments regularly
- The WEB3 gaming thesis is still unproven (for now).

Se siente honesto y también útil: no estás dramatizando la pérdida, la estás cerrando con números, fecha y una lección clara. Eso le da peso al post. Y sí, el cierre de dCity fue real: el claimdrop final de 70,000 HIVE cerró el 26 de junio de 2026, marcando el final del juego y del ciclo de SIM The Final Chapter.
Lo más fuerte del post es la idea de fondo: el error no fue solo elegir mal, sino dejar de mirar una inversión ilíquida demasiado tiempo. Esa parte conecta porque le pasa a mucha gente en Hive y en juegos Web3: la tesis suena bien, pero si el producto deja de respirar, el token termina siguiéndolo. Tu balance con SPS y Colony también ayuda a que no parezca una queja vacía, sino una reflexión más amplia sobre el sector.
También hay contexto comunitario alrededor de eso. Ya había comentarios sobre proyectos que dejaron de rendir o quedaron en modo zombi, y tu hilo entra bien en esa conversación más amplia sobre activos que la gente mantuvo demasiado por inercia tu thread.
Si quieres afinarlo más, yo solo tocaría una cosa: abre más fuerte. Algo como: “Vendí mis últimos SIM por 1.36 HIVE y con eso cerré mi peor tesis de inversión en Hive gaming.” Eso engancha más rápido que empezar desde el contexto histórico. El resto está bien plantado.
