Chaos Rear Guard: Shield and Armor Make It a Tank Powerhouse

Today in Splinterlands I got the chance to play many interesting battles but the most interesting was my 21 mana battle. I lost this battle but from this loss I learned many things especially about one special monster which is named below.
This battle was 5 vs 7. It means the opponent had a stronger lineup and compared to me their setup was also balanced. The result was that all my monsters were eliminated while not even one of the opponents monsters was out.
Obviously this loss was surprising but the good thing that my tank monster fought well and stayed till late battle. If I had correct selections then surely this battle had been won for me.
I placed Chaos Rear Guard in the front position. It is a Fire splinter tank monster and honestly in this battle this monster survived and fought for the longest time. When my other monsters were eliminated quickly even then Chaos Rear Guard kept facing the opponents attacks for many rounds.

The biggest strength of this monster is its Shield ability. Because of Shield, melee and ranged attack damage becomes half. In this battle the opponent was mostly using physical attackers because of this Chaos Rear Guard was not receiving full damage.
It also has good armor which absorbs damage first. The combination of Armor + Shield makes it very strong. A good support that continuously heals for this monster may change the battle shape.

the real reason for my defeat was my wrong selection and positioning. I did not balance my team properly. If I had placed strong support or magic attackers in the middle and backline then maybe the result would be different. Chaos Rear Guard did its job very well but the rest of the team could not give support.
If my positioning was correct and my strategy was more well planned then Chaos Rear Guard could truly have proved to be a game changer. This monster is very effective in melee heavy battles but it has one weakness that is magic damage.
Shield does not reduce magic attack so if the opponent uses more magic then it can fall quickly. Its speed is also not very high, because of this sometimes it also misses attacks.

Even though I lost this battle I got valuable information about a strong tank monster. In the next battles I will use Chaos Rear Guard again with better positioning and the right combination. Learning from defeat is the real victory and todays battle was a learning experience for me.
