Powering Up for the Big Screen: A Mario Sketch Tribute

With the movie premiere just around the corner, the hype is real! To channel some of that excitement (and maybe deal with the wait 😉), I decided to spend some time with my sketchbook. This is the result: a graphite study of our favorite plumber in full action mode. ✏️📔

For this sketch, I wanted to capture that classic "run and jump" energy from the games, but with the raw texture and shading that only traditional pencil work can provide. I couldn't resist adding those iconic elements we all know and love—the question blocks, the pipes, and of course, a stray mushroom. ✨🍄

There’s something about traditional art that feels so nostalgic, almost like the 8-bit days but brought to life on paper.
