Art And Creativity Journal: Finally Some New Work!
As I wrote last time, I am putting a bit more effort into painting these days, and I have decided to focus a bit more on painting larger stones... which suits me just fine, since I enjoy working on them far more than the small stuff.
This post is going to be more of a "show and tell" than usual, simply because I actually have some new work to show off and talk about.
All the stones pictured today are larger — up to about palm sized — and each represents many hours of work.
No, I can't actually paint one of these in a single continuous sitting. My eyes start to hurt after about an hour of focus and I have to take a break.
Each stone here presents maybe six up to abut 10 hours of actual work.
People often wonder "how" I can ask $80-$100 for a painted rock, but mostly their tone changes a little bit once they understand the amount of work that actually goes into the making of one of these stones.
In terms of hourly pay, it's well below minimum wage... but I don't mind too much, as I am enjoying what I am doing.
Of course, I am very grateful that I am still interested in what I am doing, and no sense of boredom has ever come over me... even after all these years!
And hopefully I'll be able to keep going for many more years!
As I have said before, there's a lot more to this than just sitting down and painting, while being in some kind of trance.
Now that these are done, comes the job of photographing them, and then putting them in the Etsy shop. There's always something in need to doing!
But that will be for tomorrow or the weekend. For now, I ma just glad to have gotten some new work finished!
Thank You!

Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.
