Digimon Survive [Let's Play] - 60 - Better Free Time

Truthful Route: Session 07! When I originally played this chapter, the Free Time events were pretty grim, due to the loss of one of our friends,. In this route, since I saved him, everyone is more cheerful!!

Digimon Survive is a Digimon Visual Novel with Turn-based strategy battles. It follows a group of children stranded in another world. They form bonds with the creators there called Digimon as they desperate attempts to find a way back home. I already finished one route of the game, and now I'm publishing my playthrough of the Truthful Route!

Digimon Survive is the darkest piece of Digimon media I ever consumed while still being PG13. What I love the most about Digimon Survive, is how it uniquely blends Digital Monsters with Japanese folklore. It's amazing how the idea of "child sacrifice" integrates seamlessly with Digimon lore. The specific Digimon they choose for this game enhance this theme.

Digimon Survive is the closest modern entry to the old school Digimon anime vibes. Though, more than the earlier Digimon anime series, the game reminds me more of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. In that series too, characters may die depending on your actions.

Truthful Route - 07: Better Free Time

The friends regroup, and since Ryo is saved, the vibe is more on the sweet side of the bettersweet. After a somewhat positive Free Time, Kaito has decided to look for his sister Miu, so everyone goes as well. To the Theme Park!

I fought some battles in this session, and as usual in the current route, I kept choosing the Wrathfulness options. I knew I'm locked in to the Truthful route, but I wanted to avoid choosing the Harmonious route options just in case to not get the same ending twice.
