Digimon Survive [Let's Play] - 57 - Professor

Truthful Route: Session 04! There's only 15-ish minutes of gameplay in this one, but the story does progress a bit.

Digimon Survive is a Digimon Visual Novel with Turn-based strategy battles. It follows a group of children stranded in another world. They form bonds with the creators there called Digimon as they desperate attempts to find a way back home. I already finished one route of the game, and now I'm publishing my playthrough of the Truthful Route!

Digimon Survive is the darkest piece of Digimon media I ever consumed while still being PG13. What I love the most about Digimon Survive, is how it uniquely blends Digital Monsters with Japanese folklore. It's amazing how the idea of "child sacrifice" integrates seamlessly with Digimon lore. The specific Digimon they choose for this game enhance this theme.

Digimon Survive is the closest modern entry to the old school Digimon anime vibes. Though, more than the earlier Digimon anime series, the game reminds me more of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. In that series too, characters may die depending on your actions.

Truthful Route - 04: Professor

The group saves the professor, who's finally accepted that the Kemonogami are real... It's interesting how much foreshadowing the professor has, (we already learned from the old route that he was Haru,) and that his memorie of his original time in the Digimon world are slowly returning...

Fangmon is revealed, and we must defeat him to save Saki and Shuji!
