Mindfulness & Self-Discipline: Two Major Keys to Winning in Life

At one point of our lives, we have been there that we desire to actually want to achieve some certain goals, do some exercise routines and many more but at the end of the day, we continue to find ourselves far from those goals. Sometimes we discover we make use of our day on useless things that are not worth to be celebrated. I have been in that shoe several times and most especially been a Nigerian, we did not joke with our sleep.

Over the course of my life, I have discovered two major tools that can help you go far in this life and that is discipline and mindfulness. When I talk about mindfulness, I mean you positioning yourself to be present in every of the moments and not be ignorant of your thoughts, your environments. In Nigeria where there are lots of things to attend to, I must confess that it is essential that you practice mindfulness to the fullness.

Self-discipline is what many of us are familiar with as usage of words in our society. But even with that, a lot of us actually did not know who what self-discipline is. I define discipline about you just been able to do that which you need to do even when sometimes you don't really feel like doing it. Self-discipline is what will keep you going in achieving your goals even though you are discouraged along the way. It is you positioning yourself to say no to comfort or pleasures so that you can get your goals achieved.

Combining both of them,I mean mindfulness and self discipline is what I believe will make you to go far in life. It can help you to balance a lot of things daily and at the end help you to achieve your goals. Even though along the way you will not find it funny at times, you might want to be discouraged but you need to keep going. Let me use an example that I always find myself in. Take for example you want to get somethings done probably a goal, one of the hindrances that you must definitely overcome is what I called procastination.

There is this "I will do it tomorrow" feelings that have made a lot of people to Procastinate. I mean even me myself but you will discover that the tomorrow will actually come but you have not carried out the task. What mindfulness will help you to do is to first of make you to be aware that you are actually procrastinating. Self-discipline will start working on how you can overcome the urge of procrastination so that you can arrive at the Fulfilment of your goals at the end of the day.

Another aspect of Discipline I believe many of us fail to practice that affect us a lot is the Financial Discipline. The most difficult issue currently now in Nigeria is managing your finances because there are a lot of things for you to attend to. There is the family responsibility, the personal goals and many more but combining both mindfulness and self discipline will help you to overcome the financial demands. Take for another example, when you want to buy a certain thing, but you remember through mindfulness that you need to be positioned and remember that there are things for you to do. Self-discipline will now make you to spend your money in a wise manner.

Years back when I did not know anything about mindfulness and self discipline, I always suffered from making wrong decisions but gradually Cultivating it to my lifestyle has helped me to go far in life and help me too take more wise decisions and help me to achieve my goals. One of the ways I practice mindfulness daily is to always set time for meditation. I set aside 10-15 minutes of my time daily to meditate so that I can be able to position myself for better reflections. Then I applied the law of discipline which is do that which you need to do at all cost.

As I conclude, I will conclude by saying both of them are key factor in anyone's life and even though it might at first be difficult to put it into practice, you need to cultivate the habit of combining both in your daily lifestyle.
