Splinterlands - Mad Gearhead and First Battle of Season

In a battle of taking sides where I can only summon units other than neutrals so I have to stay focus on what I have to do with the archon that have to be chosen ore the units that every archon would have its special units as there are no summon for neutral units in this battle of the season.

This is my first battle and I have not started rental yet, Just want to try to play with regular units that I have then I would decide whether to play with them or to get more powerful cards from the market and the same would be for archons as I have rented some in the last season and they did a good job for me.

As you can see I have started the battle with a team mix of melee and magic attack but I was surprised that my opponent started strongly with a powerful team of magic attack making my armors with no sense so I have to go to the market.

What makes things bad is that I have only Mad Gearhead that stands to the end of the battle while most other cards destroyed so I need to change my strategy and went to the market to see cards like Endless Ape and other good ones.
