AI vs. Canva: Can Nano Banana Pro, Seedream 4.0 and Flux 2 Pro Design a YouTube Thumbnail ?
I'm a long time user of Canva and I really like this program. Today, I wanted to figure out whether I could use AI models to actually substitute Canva. I used 3 different image generation models to create the thumbnail for this very video.
I provided a reference image and gave clear instructions and wanted to see how the following best in class models did the job:
- Nano Banana Pro
- Seedance 4.0
- Flux 2 Pro
In the video, I show you the prompts that I used and which model did the best job. Here the thumbnail that I finally used for this video:

I used the following tool:

ERROR! 🤣
Strange, it works for me. Maybe some youtube outage where you live...
That is interesting. I guess AI still isn't there yet, but I am guessing it will get there over time.
It's definitely not a substitute for a platform like canva but it can be a very helpful tool to get some ideas.
It was really helpful to see how each one performed with the same prompt. It’s interesting how some AI tools can come close to replacing Canva, while others still need improvement.
Thanks for your comment. The models are evolving at an amazing speed. A month ago, I wouldn't have believed what they can do now. I'm sure that in very little time, we will have models that can replace tools like Canva.
