The London Trip.

Shaki’s mum’s heart palpitated due to the way her daughter sprung out of the bed. An as hypertensive patient, she got furious at first thinking what must have made her do that.

Mummy!!! Our prayers have been answered. I can finally fulfill my dreams, Shaki happily said to her mum.

Don’t touch me! What sort of a thing is that? Why did you dash out from the bed in such manner?, the old woman erupted in anger.

Shaki who has always wanted to have her masters program in London has now found the most affordable opportunity to do so. While in bed, Shaki was busy scrolling some Instagram posts as usual and saw an advertisement about anyone who wants to study in London at the cheapest price.

Sorry mummy but it is stated here that I can study in London at a very cheap price. That’s why I got out of the bed in that way. I’ve copied the address on the bio. I’ll go there right away, Shaki hurriedly said.

Shaki’s furious mum began to smile. She stood up from her wooden chair and started singing and dancing just like every other Yoruba woman would do. She was the happiest on earth. Without hesitation, Shaki put on her favorite pink dress with a black purse and headed to the address on the profile. It was a happy day so she dressed like it was her birthday.

After a road trip of forty five minutes, Shaki got to the office which was on their social media page. A smile illuminated Shaki’s entire face.

Shaki brought out her phone to check if that’s the exact name on their Instagram account. Yes, that was it and Shaki was sure that she was at the right place.

On entering the office, there was a chair for the officer, a table and two chairs for the clients. Looking up to the right, there was a Nigerian flag, a picture of the governor of Lagos state and a picture of the President of Nigeria.
On the table, there were different books, an encyclopedia and a form for clients to fill.

Madam, welcome to Worldclass travel agency. An agency which can help you travel to your dream country in just three days, just three days? Shaki was surprised. If it was possible for her to fly out of Nigeria in that minute, she would do so. She became more happy.
So, I can be in London in the next three days, Shaki thought on her mind.

After all her chattering and rambling with Mr Akano, the travel consultant who attended to her, it resulted to Shaki paying a huge sum of one million and five hundred thousand Naira for the processing of the trip including the ticket and accommodation.

.Mummy, the travel consultant said that he can make this trip work out in just three days. It’s five times cheaper than the travel agency I wanted to go through before, happiness filled in the whole room. Shaki will be in London in three days.

On the next day, Shaki and her mum stepped out to Oshodi market and bought some items like a travel bag, shoes, clothes and other things that Shaki may need in London.
That wasn’t all. Shaki and her mum spread the news all over the community that Shaki was traveling to London. They got congratulatory messages from everyone in the society.

Mr Akano hasn’t been picking my calls for over two hours, Shaki said after calling so many times and sending series of texts.

Ehn? What do you mean by he’s not picking your calls anymore? Shaki’s mum tied her scarf and a wrapper. They both headed to Mr Akano’s office.
Surprisingly, there was no one in the office. It looks so abandoned like it has not been used for years.

Ehhhhhh my God! Shaki’s mum wailed. She sat on the floor with her two hands on her head. She has just been scammed.

I knew it! I knew from the moment he said the trip will work out in just three days. My mind kept telling me that going to London is more expensive and one million, five hundred thousand Naira isn’t even enough for a ticket but I was just greedy. I thought it could work out, Shaki wailed.

Shaki and her mum became weighed by their mistake. They went back home sad and feeling remorseful. Shaki’s dream of traveling to London in three days became shattered.
