Mo’Hits Record And How It Ended.
Mo’Hits record was a Nigerian based record label owned by two music gurus in Nigeria. They were the top and leading artistes back in the early 20s in Nigeria before they splited and ruined things.
These two artistes are D’banj and Don Jazzy. Mo’Hits was founded by D’banj and Don Jazzy in 2004. This record label had just three artistes when it was founded and they were D’banj, Don Jazzy, Wande Coal and Dr Sid.
These four artistes actually set the streets of Lagos on fire because of their fantastic songs. Things went well with the record label abd the first album released under this label was owned by D’banj titled No Long Thing in 2005.
One of the most popular songs of this album is Koko owned by D’banj.
Koko
Koko could mean so many things. It could mean the reason why something happened, a lump and so much more. There is no child born in the early 20s who doesn’t know this song.
Why me
In this video, I’m sure you could spot the two record label owners right there. They did their things almost the same way and this song has a particular dance where you have to roll your two hands around your ears. That’s the dance. Everyone born in Nigeria in the early 20s will know this.
Mo’Hits record started making more fame and back then, if any artiste doesn’t belong to this record label in Nigeria, they will actually feel left out because that was the reigning record label back then.
This record label went as far as making a compilation album titled Mo’Hits All Stars which has a number of ten songs and five artistes.
Let’s hear a few songs from the compilation album.
Pere
All the artistes in this record label jumped on this song. It’s an old song but I still remember the lyrics. Look at the video. That’s how music videos were shot in Nigeria back then.
Move your body
The album isn’t just the one to sing but dance and rock your body as well. As the title of this song implies, we really have to move our body while banging this song. It is giving a pure Nigerian musical vibe especially the olden ones. Let’s vibe to it.
If a record label could have a joint album, it shows they are united and can never separate but what if they do? They actually did. Don Jazzy, a co-founder of the Mo’Hits record label took to Twitter in March 2012 that his partner had just left the group and that was the end of the record label. They didn’t even try to revive it at all in any way.
The reason for the separation was not revealed to the public but Don Jazzy, the co-founder of Mo’Hits record label created a new record label on his own called the Mavins record which has a lot of achievements today and also some Grammy nominated artistes basically from Nigeria.
Let’s have some more songs from the Mo’Hits record label before they splited.
You bad
This is owned by Wande Coal and it is released under his album titled Mushin to Mo’Hits. Have fun!
Kiss your hand
Still the same album, same person and same record label.
The end of Mo’Hits career is what happens when you have a business or record label with a friend who is not willing to put in work to the record label.
