Is Relocation The Solution?
I feel my write up tonight may be something that we all need to talk on. I’ve never wished to relocate outside Nigeria and not because I don’t like other countries but I don’t see myself doing anything outside the country.
Despite the fact that I wish to visit the USA, the UK, Finland, Canada and some other countries someday, I still do not have plans to move in there totally.
Just last week, I saw a friend’s status. She had just traveled to the UK and you all need to see how happy she is. Yeah, I know that’s normal. Then she said that she doesn’t need to charge her phone too much or panic about light because there is constant electricity.
Right now, I can’t remember the last time we had light and I’m in Lagos for that matter.
Secondly, she mentioned that she doesn’t need to struggle to get on the bus. It was just so easy. When she gets to the bus station, wait for the bus and you’ll get picked.
Would you guys believe that I trekked over fifteen minutes today before I could get a bus? It was raining, there was nowhere to hide and the buses were filled up.
How about security? I’m not even trying to talk down on Nigeria, my country right now but if we compare it to the system of other countries, you’d want to leave and never come back.
No wonder so many people are finding their ways to get out of the country.
I’ve been saying that I have no goal or dream of relocating to another country but how about now? I’m still not sure of what I want to do but everything is tiring and stressful.
Going to the bank is stressful, education is stressful, having your government ID card done is stressful and everything we can ever think of.
Are those even good for my mental health? Are they good for your mental health as well? Do I begin to say that the country is tiring? Yeah, I’m ranting but I feel I’m making sense.
As a young adult who’s just starting her life, am I supposed to go through such hardship?
Finally, I’ll conclude that it is the rich people who enjoy the country. Since I’ve got no dream of relocating, I’ll work hard to be among the rich so I can live freely and enjoy the better Nigeria.
