Does God Allow Polygamy? || MCGI Topic Review

A friend was talking to me about the story of his household. His father has practiced polygamy which is not accepted by the Lord. Unfortunately, his father has never enjoyed his marriage as a result of polygamy and because his wives are never in good terms.

I do not think that there is a way a man will be married to two women and the two of them will be in good terms. This means that polygamy itself doesn’t make the man of the home to be at peace and God has warned so many people against polygamy including Lamech, the first man who practiced polygamy in the Bible.

Let’s just take the life of King Solomon as an example. He had a good life and His life would have been perfect if he actually didn’t practice polygamy but he went too far to marry as much as seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines and this is what made God ti turn his face against King Solomon.

1 Kings 11:1-3 says : King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. 2 They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. 3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.

The wives led him astray and God punished King Solomon. Do you think if God is in support of polygamy, he will punish King Solomon? We can as well use David in the Bible as an example.

Eventually, God punished the two of them. They can be used as pure examples because they have experienced what will happen to any man who marries more than one wife.
