Today you're here to show us one of the wonderful houses in Havana's Vedado neighborhood: the headquarters of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba. It was once the home of the poet Nicolás Guillén.

This mansion was built at the beginning of the 20th century with the profits obtained from the sale and export of sugar by Havana's upper bourgeoisie of the time.

The house features a blend of various architectural styles from the Classical period.
Its high thresholds, columns, spacious living rooms illuminated by tall windows and beautiful stained-glass windows are characteristic of this period.

Much of the exterior flooring and the entire interior of the house is made of granite.

A vast garden surrounds the entire house, both inside and out, providing coolness and shade, as well as incredible, natural beauty.

This mansion was declared a national monument for its architectural value and what it represents for Cuban culture.

Inside, we can see beautiful works of art, such as sculptures, crafts, paintings by world-renowned artists, and stained glass.

The sconces, moldings, and lamps are also works of art.

The handrails and stairs are made of marble.

Natural lighting is vital in this type of construction.

Stained glass, in addition to beautifying the home, also serves the practical purpose of providing natural light.

In one of its interior courtyards, you can find these tables where the city's artists gather.
Here they read poetry, tell stories, sing, perform, and present books or artistic projects, in addition to sharing drinks and various snacks.
This is one of the most bohemian spots in Vedado, #Havana City.

The house has three entrances: one main and two side entrances. This is one of the side entrances, designed for access directly by car from the outside.

As you can see, it could easily be thought of as the main entrance, as it boasts great natural and architectural beauty.

Just look at the beautiful stained-glass window.

Just before reaching the main courtyard of the house, we come across this annex, built later, in the second half of the 20th century.

The first part belongs to the Pepe Rodríguez Feo Library, a renowned Cuban intellectual.

Here, the artists in the talk donated this plaque to Wilfredo Lam, a very important painter in our country.

Finally, we arrive at the renowned Sala Villena at UNEAC.

It bears the name of that important Cuban artist and revolutionary.

Hola, amigos viajeros del mundo.

Hoy llega usted a mostrarles una de las maravillosas casas del Vedado habanero: la dede de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba. La que otrora fuera la casa del poeta Nicolás Guillén.

Esta casona fue construida a principios del siglo 20 con las ganancias obtenida de la venta y exportación de azúcar por parte de la alta burguesía habanera de entonces.

La casa cuenta con una mezcla de diversos estilos arquitectónicos del periodo clásico.
Sus altos umbrales, columnas, salones amplios iluminados con altas ventanas y hermosos vitrales, son característicos de esta época.

Gran parte del suelo del exterior y la totalidad del interior de la casa está hecho de granito.

Un inmenso jardín rodea toda la casa tanto en el interior como desde el exterior, otorgándole frescor y sombra, además de una belleza increíble y natural.

Esta casona fue declarada, por sus valores arquitectónicos y lo que representa para la cultura cubana, como monumento nacional.

En el interior podemos ver hermosas obras de arte, como esculturas, artesanías, pinturas de artistas importantes a nivel mundial y los vitrales.

También los apliques, molduras y las lámparas, también son una obra de arte.

Los pasamanos y escaleras están contruidas con mármol.

La iluminación natural es vital en este tipo de construcciones.

Los vitrales, además de embellecer la casa, también cumple su función práctica de brindar luz natural.

En uno de sus patios interiores se pueden encontrar estas mesas donde se reúne los artistas de la ciudad.
Aquí leen poesía, cuentos, cantan, actúan y presentan libros o proyectos artísticos; además de compartir con bebidas y snacks variados.
Este es uno de los sitios más bohemios del Vedado capitalino.

La casa cuenta con tres entradas: una principal y dos laterales. Esta es una de las entradas laterales, pensada para cuando se llegara directamente en auto desde el exterior.

Como ven, bien podría pensarse que es la entrada principal, ya que goza de gran belleza natural y arquitectónica.
Nada más vean qué hermosura de vitral.

Justo antes de llegar al patio mayor de la casa nos encontramos con este anexo construido posteriormente, en la segunda mitad del siglo XX.

La primera parte le pertenece a la Biblioteca Pepe Rodríguez Feo, reconocido intelectual cubano.

Aquí los artistas de la plática le donaron esta tarja a Wilfredo Lam, importantísimo pintor de nuestro país.

Por último llegamos a las reconocida Sala Villena de la Uneac.

Lleva el nombre aquel importante artista y revolucionario cubano.

Este sábado se encuentra justo al frente de uno de los patios más hermosos de todo el vedado por su vegetación natural.

Cualquiera puede sentarse en estos bancos en cualquier momento del día por más alta que esté la temperatura y refrescarse con la suave brisa.
