The atmosphere can be everything
Hello, coffee lovers: Happy New Year!
I'd like to start the year here, since there's no better way to start the day than with a coffee.
In previous posts, I've mentioned that the ambiance, the atmosphere of each coffee shop, greatly influences its success. It's the same as with people: it's the first thing you perceive, your first impression. If you don't like the atmosphere of the place, you won't go in, and therefore, you won't buy anything there.
On the other hand, based on my reflections, there are two types of atmospheres that encompass the other subtypes: the atmosphere for sharing joy, jubilation, companionship, etc.; and the reflective atmosphere. This is the one in which you prefer to be alone to work, to think about your own matters, to have a private conversation with someone, etc.
The first type can be outdoor spaces. Otherwise, they should be spacious rooms so that conversations don't disturb other customers. Of course, good lighting is preferable.
However, the second type requires more private spaces.
These are also the ones with soft, dim lighting. Generally, the colors in the cafe's design are dark, warm tones. These spaces, by their very design, encourage quiet conversation, tranquility, and introspection.
The designs on the cups and the coffee itself are also very important. Customers appreciate this, and it gives a personal touch, making you feel well taken care of. That can really lift your spirits when you need it.
I don't think the owner intended to cater to one type of customer or another; rather, it's the chosen design that attracts their clientele.
This isn't an exact science, of course. However, it's what I've noticed in my visits to dozens of coffee shops in my country.
