Without a doubt, this is the most popular quote of all, and it's gaining more traction every day. In a society as turbulent, hectic, and competitive as today's (regardless of the country you're reading this from), every second of your time represents money you lose or fail to earn.

I think we should optimize our time so that it generates the greatest amount of profit in the shortest amount of time possible.
Unfortunately, there are those who live to work, when the right thing to do would be to work to live... and live well.

Something I've always complained about when I experience it and have tried to teach my students not to repeat this bad practice is lateness.

We all have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 30 days a month, and a very limited lifespan.
And by lifespan, I mean the time we spend working at 100% capacity. So when we agree to meet at a certain time on a certain day, I expect to be there on time and maximize every second of these meetings.

Not only to make the most of my time, but also to respect others. You never know who has missed being with their children, with their family, to care for me, to listen to what I have to say.
At the same time, each person should be able to appreciate and value the time I dedicate to them, since every second with someone is a second of my life that I'm dedicating to them, and vice versa.
So, we must all use this time very well and manage it to get the most value out of it. We must also spend it with people who are worthwhile, who deserve it, and who know how to appreciate it.

It's no secret that one of my favorite authors is Stephen King. Behind that apparent vulgarity, that seemingly low-level, colloquialism, lies a great philosophical burden.
Stephen King may be simple, but he's never simple.
And I've also heard what he says in this sentence from Master Jesús Ortega. Except that Ortega tells us If the muse comes, let her find you working.

And both are absolutely right in what they say. There's no point in having talent or a dream if we don't put in the work every day. An artist never rests, never takes a vacation. I'm a writer, and even when I'm not writing, I can read or think about a poem, about how to continue a story, about my next novel.
No matter what, at the beginning of my career I forced myself to work at all times. Nowadays I don't have to force myself; it's a necessity to work constantly.

My wife, a concert guitarist, tells her students that they may be on vacation, but they'll never have a vacation from the guitar.
Every day they have to study guitar, review their program.
And that's the only way to improve, to strive for perfection.
That thing about waiting for the muse or having a mental block that doesn't let us rest, as the maestros Ortega and Stephen King say, is amateurish. And there's nothing wrong with being amateurs; what's wrong is not behaving like professionals. Not wanting to be professionals.

Another great writer with another great quote. And there's a lot of philosophizing to be done on this topic. Literally, books have been written about living in the present.
Personally, I always set goals, dreams to fulfill in the future. It's true. It's my way of planning my own evolution, my life, and that of my family.
I feel that if I don't look ahead, I can't move forward.

However, my worries and my actions are rooted in the present. The present is the only thing I have control over. If there's ever truly anything in this life.
I always think very carefully, or at least I try to think very carefully, about every action I take in the present so I don't have to regret the game and can leave the past behind. So I don't have to look back on the past.
Because the only time it hurts, the only time you are happy, is the present.
Therefore, you have to enjoy it to the fullest.
The future may or may not arrive, but the present will always be here. Focus on that and live it without regret. Always give your best in the present and your future will be secure.

Time moves slowly, but quickly - Alice Walker.

In reality, this Alice Walker quote can have many different meanings.
However, I'm going to choose the one that interests me most, and that is about enjoying quality time.
It is said that time is relative because if we are having a good time, it passes very quickly; while if we are having a bad time, it seems very long.
So let's take advantage and try to live only in good moments of joy, no matter how fleeting they may seem. It's better to have short, happy moments than a single, long, sad one.
Let's always choose happiness, joy, and good times.
We only have one life, so let's spend the short time we have on this earth joyfully.

Quisiera ser breve y conciso porque el tiempo de ustedes es muy preciado y no podemos darnos el lujo de desperdiciarlo.
Hablemos del tiempo.

Para ello voy a apoyarme en frases famosas de algunos artistas y del folclore popular.

El tiempo es dinero

Sin duda alguna, esta es la frase más popular de todas y cada día obtiene más peso. En una sociedad tan convulsa, agitada y competitiva como la actual (independientemente del país del que me leas), cada segundo de tu tiempo representa dinero que pierdes o dejas de ganar.

Pienso que debemos optimizar nuestro tiempo para que este nos genere la mayor cantidad de ganancia en el menor tiempo empleado posible.
Lamentablemente, hay quienes viven para trabajar, cuando lo correcto sería trabajar para vivir... y vivir bien.

El tiempo es lo más valioso que puede gastar el hombre - Teofrasto

Algo de lo que siempre me he quejado cuando lo sufro y he tratado de enseñar a mis alumnos a no repetir esta mala práctica, es la impuntualidad.
Todos tenemos 24 horas de día, 7 días a la semana, 30 días en un mes y un tiempo muy limitado de vida útil.
Y por vida útil me refiero a la que utilizamos laborando al 100% de capacidad. Por tanto cuando quedamos en reunirnos a una hora terminada vernos un día determinado Yo espero estar en tiempo y optimizar cada segundo de estas reuniones.

No solamente para aprovechar mi tiempo si no para respetar de los demás. Uno nunca sabe quién dejó de estar junto a sus hijos, con su familia para atenderme, para escuchar lo que tengo que decir.
Al mismo tiempo que cada persona debe poder apreciar y valorar el tiempo que le dedico, ya que cada segundo junto a una persona es un segundo de mi vida que le estoy dedicando y viceversa.
Así que todos debemos emplear muy bien en este tiempo y gestionarle para sacarle la mayor cantidad de valor posible. Debemos también emplearlo con las personas que valga la pena, que lo merezcan y lo sepan apreciar.

Para nadie es un secreto que uno de mis autores favoritos es Stephen King. Detrás de esa aparente vulgaridad, de ese aparente bajo nivel, coloquialismo hay una gran carga filosófica.
Stephen King podrá ser sencillo, pero nunca simple.
Y esto que dice en esta frase, lo he escuchado también del Maestro Jesús Ortega. Solo que Ortega nos dice Si viene la musa, que te encuentre trabajando.

Y ambos tienen toda razón del mundo en lo que plantean. De nada vale tener talento o un sueño si no nos ponemos a trabajar todos los días.
El artista no tiene descanso, no tiene vacaciones. Yo soy escritor y, aunque no esté escribiendo, puedo leer o pensando en un poema, en cómo continuar una historia, en mi siguiente novela.
No importa en qué pero, al inicio de mi carrera me obligaba a trabajar en todo momento. Ya el día de hoy no tengo que obligarme ya es una necesidad la de trabajar constantemente.

Mi esposa que es guitarrista concertista, le dice a sus alumnos que pueden que estén de vacaciones, pero nunca tendrán vacaciones de la guitarra.
Todos los días tienen que estudiar guitarra, repasar su programa.
Y es que esa es la única forma de mejorar, debuscar la perfección.
Eso de esperar La musa o tener un bloqueo mental que no nos deje descansar como dicen los maestros Ortega y Stephen king es aficionados. Y no hay nada malo en ser aficionados, lo malo es no comportarnos como profesionales. No querer ser profesionales.

Otro gran escritor con otra gran frase. Y sobre este tema se puede filosofar muchísimo. Literalmente se han escrito libros sobre el vivir en el presente.
En lo particular siempre me planteo metas, sueños a realizar en el futuro. Sí es cierto. Es mi modo de planificar mi propia evolución, mi vida y la de mi familia.
Siento que si no miro hacia delante no puedo avanzar.

Sin embargo mi preocupación y mis acciones están enraizadas en el presente. El presente es lo único que tengo a mi control. Si es que se puede tener un verdadero control de algo en esta vida.
Siempre pienso muy bien, o al menos intento de pensar muy bien, cada acción que realiza en el presente para no tener que arrepentirme el juego y poder dejar el pasado atrás. Para no tener que mirar en el pasado.
Porque el único momento que duele, en el que se es feliz, es en el presente. Por tanto, hay que disfrutarlo al máximo.
El futuro puede que llegue o puede que no sin embargo presente siempre estará aquí. Enfócate en eso y vívelo sin arrepentimiento. Da siempre lo mejor de ti en el presente y tendrás el futuro asegurado.

El tiempo se mueve despacio, pero deprisa -Alice Walker.

En realidad esta frase de Alice Walker puede tener disímiles significados.
Sin embargo voy a irme por el que más me interesa y este es de vivir tiempo de calidad.
Se dice que el tiempo es relativo ya que si lo pasamos bien pasa muy deprisa; mientras que si lo estamos pasando mal se nos hace muy largo.
Por tanto aprovechemos y tratemos de vivir solamente en momentos buenos de alegría por más efímeros te parezcan. Es mejor si en momentos felices y cortos que un solo momento largo y triste.
Elijamos siempre la felicidad alegría y los buenos ratos.
Tenemos solo una vida, pasemos con alegría el poco tiempo que tenemos en esta tierra.
