New Years Resolution

Happy New Year Hivers, I'm so glad we made it into 2026, it's a real privilege to be able to through the roller coaster of last year and come out victorious into the new year. I've heard that January is a month of delusions, and that is quite true because of the fact that everyone is quick to make a New year's resolution, in fact some people would have started to plan all the ways they would be serious this year. We wake up on January 1st and we are convinced that we are going to be new people just because the calendar changed but it all would ultimately go down the drain at the end of this month and we'll go back to our old patterns.
The problem isn't that you are not disciplined it's just that we make this goals based on vibes and hope, not structure. Our best bet is to be intentional with goals we set this year. Don't set impossible goals, you are just setting yourself up for failure. I'm one of those people who promise to change my whole personality on the new year and I've learned that the hard way, you can't just change your personality trait because it a new year. Personality trait change through efforts and actions. Instead of saying I'll be more consistent, how about making a return plan if you miss a day, because it's okay if you miss day.

One hack that I feel we overlook is that our resolution shouldn't be this big impossible goal, as much as we love the pride we feel with accomplishing big task, the little ones also matter because our brains will readily choose easy, little, boring tasks over hard ones. If you want to read more books, start with a page a day. Small goal are easy to conquer and they create a framework for the bigger picture.
I hear phrases like I'll change my life this year, I'll turn things around for myself, but the idea of that is too vague, not specific. It's easy to get sidetracked and lose focus. Specific tasks are more easy to continue. Start with one habit, with one boundary, with one choice. We don't just up and change everything about our lives in one day, we have to take small steps toward our goals.

At the end of the day, the reason for your resolution will decide if it will survive, if your reason is shallow it will collapse under stress. Knowing your "why" help to strengthen and motivate you to achieve your goals. People who stay untop of their New Year Resolutions aren't more motivated and productive than you, they just plan their goal in a way that it's easier for them. We just have to be honest with ourselves and goals to make sure we achieve all we set out to do.
It's Abeegail✨💗
